From San Jose viaTaras If you are coming from San Jose take the Panamerican Highway # 2 south. After passing a toll booth and the exit to Tres Rios keep driving up the hill (Ochomogo) and once you are descending get off the highway straight ahead (do not continue right to Cartago downtown via highway). Continue straight ahead to Taras. After a couple of meters you will find the road and sign to the left to Irazu volcano. Turn left and take this road straight ahead and follow the signs to Irazu Volcano. On the way you will see the sign to Pacayas, (that detour has a white statue of Jesus) If you take that road to Pacayas you will end up in Turrialba town. Please follow the signs to Irazu Volcano.
From San Jose via Cartago downtown If you are coming from San Jose take the Panamerican Highway # 2 south. After passing a toll booth and the exit to Tres Rios keep driving up the hill (Ochomogo) and once you are descending stay on the highway turning right and then straight ahead to Cartago downtown.
