Selva Bananito is a family-owned rainforest lodge that generates income from tourism for the protection of its private reserve and for the funding of special conservation programs. Located 20 km south and 15 km inland from Puerto Limón and close to Costa Rica’s largest national park, La Amistad, this property offers individual wood bungalows standing on stilts in the Caribbean tradition. Each of the spacious cabins features two double beds, private elegantly tiled bathrooms with solar heated water, reading lamps, large veranda and hammock. Meals are served at the “rancho”; the romantic candlelight evenings are very special. To preserve a more natural nighttime ambiance, they use no electricity. Activities include rainforest and river hikes, horseback rides, mountain biking, rappelling and tree climbing.
